PROCEDURES:

Introduction:

Normally there will be five people participating in each clinic.

                       1.         The Veterinarian-in-Charge: [VIC] will perform the initial examination of each cat, and the actual surgery. S/he will complete the surgical report.

                       2.         The Veterinarian’s Assistant: [VA] will prepare the surgical packs for each operation, conduct the final preparation for surgery, monitor the cat during surgery, and perform the ear-tipping operation.

                       3.         The Veterinary Technician: [VT] will admit all the cats, verifying that they are the ones scheduled and that all documents are in order. She will perform the initial preparation for surgery, including injection and transporting to the surgical table. Post-surgically, she will inject the cats with vaccines and antibiotics. She will complete the surgical report and coordinate the entire clinic operation.

                       4.         The VT’s Assistant: [VTA] will assist VA with all procedures and transport the cats post-surgically. On some occasions, she may be the one to act as official greeter.
